What you can do with children on Holnis
The peninsula itself is the playground: water, wind, a wide beach. Lessons, minigolf and riding are close by.

On the east beach the wind decides. The surf station at the promenade gives rough guidelines: windsurfing is fun from around eight, kite and wing from twelve, and on SUP anyone who can swim safely can paddle. Lessons and equipment are available there, and the surf beach lies at Holnis Drei.
Between the campsite and the surf school sits a minigolf course: eighteen holes along the Förde, with motifs from the Geltinger Birk all the way to Denmark. There is a kiosk with drinks and ice cream, and dogs may come along, just not onto the holes. Play runs until the end of October, with the last balls going out in the afternoon. Check that the course is open before you come.
You can learn to sail nearby. The Hanseatic Yacht School in Glücksburg trains children from eight in the Optimist dinghy, the youngest in their own holiday courses, the older ones from twelve in junior training. The sailing clubs in Flensburg also have youth sections with Opti groups and trial sails.
Fishing needs a licence. For the coast of the Förde there is a holiday fishing licence from the town halls; for the Mühlenteich in Glücksburg, fishing cards are issued from May to December at the tourist information office.
There is no riding on the peninsula itself. Closest is holiday riding for children at Gut Oestergaard in Steinberg, inland between Flensburg and Kappeln: grooming, saddling and leading the horse to the pasture before you ride.
When the wind is too strong or it rains, two addresses help: the Phänomenta in Flensburg with hands-on experiment stations, and the Fördelandtherme in Glücksburg with a children's pool and an outdoor mud play area.
